Episode 1: Paul Irwin & Nicky Kaur – Founders of TryLife
For this exciting initiatory episode of the Foundery, Craig meets Paul Irwin and Nicky Kaur, the founders of Trylife, to discuss their unique business journey and it’s positive social impact. Paul and Nicky incorporated Trylife in 2011 when, as a social worker, Paul realised there was a flaw in the way they engaged with young people. Paul’s childhood interest in choice-based adventure novels, coupled with his passion for gaming and digital media, led he and Nicky to create a truly pioneering, socially conscious business.
The idea of Trylife is to create a dynamic and engaging video platform for young people to see the results of their actions, without needing to live out the negative consequences. The videos offer the viewer a huge range of choices, bridging the gap of the film and gaming worlds to create “a different format of story telling”. The success of Trylife speaks for itself, with an over 6.3 million strong Facebook following (at time of release) and a series of awards, including ‘Pitch@Palace’ in April 2017.
Trylife have exciting plans to continue and develop their great work, both at home and internationally. Most recently heading out to the USA to work with gangs.
